'It's still the most surreal thing': Sienna Miller speaks out on childbirth...and why she's going to wait before hiring a nanny
She was once one of London's most photographed party girls.
But actress Sienna Miller, who gave birth to son Marlowe four months ago, has spoken out for the first time about how motherhood has changed her.
After admitted to loving childbirth and the first few months of being a new mother, the blonde star told Harper's Bazaar that she wants to wait before hiring a nanny, so she can learn about parenting herself.
Loved childbirth: Sienna Miller has admitted that she enjoyed giving birth to first son Marlowe four months ago
'It’s still the most surreal thing, that you can create, that I grew this life inside my stomach, her eyeballs, everything - every little fibre,' she told the magazine.
'And I’d expected that she’d be this extension of me and I’d instantly understand who she was because she’d come from me, and then you realise that they are their own people entirely. Very connected to you, of course. But they’re their own person,' she added.
The actress, who's engaged to Marlowe's father Tom Sturridge, has decided to wait before hiring a nanny, saying:
'It’s just been the three of us, which was amazing, and exhausting.'
'Just the three of us': Sienna says that she wants to learn parenting skills before hiring a nanny
'We are going to get a nanny, but it felt important to first learn for myself who I was as a parent.'
Full interview appears in the January issue of Harper¿s Bazaar UK on sale Monday 3rd December. Also available as a digital edition
While childbirth is different for everyone, it's rare to find someone who actually enjoys the process, but Sienna admitted to just this:
'It’s the best, the greatest thing in the world... I would do that day a million times again. I would do that day, every day. I loved it,' she said.
Being in the spotlight for years, a lot of focus has always been on Sienna's slim figure, but the actress now admits that she sees her body in a different way since giving birth.
'My body’s a completely different thing to me, it’s not mine - all the attachment to its flaws or any aesthetic attachment is gone,' she said.
'You understand what breasts are for; and I have such enormous respect for my body because of what it can do.'
The actress is set to star as Tippi Hedren in new BBC drama The Girl in late December.
